Them Old Silver Cars

Imagine having a fleet of shiny silver cars…

Some Mercedes, some Aston Martin, some Bentley, some Cadillac, some Porsche, some Jaguar, some Lexus… being sent to a giant chop shop, having all their interior and exterior badging removed; leather interiors swapped out for old cloth; wheels removed and replaced with cheap rims and hub caps; high-grade rubber tires swapped out for cheap replacements; radios and navigation systems taken out; and finally, rear bumpers taken off and replaced with truck bumpers with big trailer hitches.

These “luxury” vehicles are then loaded onto container ships, transported overseas and sold as “silver work vehicles.”  Not Bentley, not Cadillac, not Mercedes nor Aston Martin… just plain old silver cars.

Those who bought these former luxury vehicles, drive them til they break down, then build replacement vehicles just like them, and have a fresh new set of silver vehicles to do their work.  These silver cars have fantastic engines, and mighty strong transmissions.  They constantly pull a load that is 3 or 4x their towing capacity, which makes their “owners” marvel at how strong they are (but the factory that created the originals knows what’s in them, yet is never credited with the craftsmanship).

Generations of silver cars continue to be built and enhanced, yet no one ever knows their true make or original stock (Mercedes, Aston Martin, Lexus, etc); they’re just, “silver cars” that “take a licking and keep on ticking.”  They’re parked at the same properties as branded vehicles (some luxury, some not), but those true-branded vehicles are kept in garages, safe from the elements.  Those old “silver” cars… they’re just left out in the rain.  How they rust not, remains a mystery.

What is to become of those “silver” cars?

God does know. Some men might.
