Breaking Down The Bible: The Ten Commandments

IF YOU’VE BEEN FOLLOWING MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL…

You already know about the show I kicked off in July of 2019 called, “Matt T’s Rap,” which in a nutshell, is a video podcast that gives viewers a look into the types of conversations guys have when hanging out at the barbershop, gym, sports bars, men’s study groups at church, etc.  (Oh and by the way, for those of you who aren’t aware of my channel, please visit http://www.youtube.com/c/MattTalford and click the subscribe button; I think you’ll be glad you did… Thanks!)

Now, to make a long story short (because believe me, I could give you up to four pages of background on why I started these), I began doing special scripture editions of Matt T’s Rap to fill what I saw as a void caused by either misinformation, or a lack of knowledge regarding various biblical themes and passages of scripture.  When on one or two special editions of Matt T’s Rap last year, I flirted with a couple or so Bible passages illustrating their connection to present-day issues, behind the scenes, I had a group of friends and family members leaning on me to do more. Though I initially pushed back, I did a year-end review of engagement on a number of my posts and realized that the ones that were of a spiritual nature generated the most feedback and interaction (both privately and online).  Also the fact that I had some not-so-pleasant-but-expected responses from “old-guard Bible thumpers” (whom I knew personally), I figured I must be onto something, and hence made the decision in December to hit the ground running in January, with the first Matt’s Rap episode of the Year 2020 to be a scripture edition.

(And so you know, I will continue to publish the fun topics from last season—sports, movie reviews, women/relationships, etc, however, due to popular demand, I will be doing considerably more scripture editions of Matt T’s Rap.)

Now, without further ado… The Ten Commandments…

Why did I choose a breakdown of The Ten Commandments as the first Matt T’s Rap Scripture Edition of the year?  Well, while I know the saying, “It’s not how you start it’s how you finish” is most often true, I’ve never heard anyone with anything negative to say about having a great start.  So, without going into too much written detail in this blog post (you’ll need to watch the video below for the meat), I’ll say that in a nutshell, the reasoning behind the Ten Commandments is quite simple…

If you’ve followed any of my work as an author, you know that the central theme to nearly everything I write is that with every “what,” there is a connected “why.”  The same holds true for the Ten Commandments.  The why behind the Ten Commandments, from my vantage point, is that adherence to them will generally result in a longer life than failure to adhere to them.  They are designed to keep you living long and harmoniously with your neighbor, if you follow them.  So, are you ready to hear the breakdown?  If you said “yes,” click the video below and if you like the video, please give it a thumbs up and leave a comment if you so choose.

Thanks and All the Best!
