at Shepherd’s Fold Bookstore on Saturday February 27

ROCK HILL, SC – February 26, 2016 – Shepherd’s Fold Bookstore is hosting Matt D Talford, author of the award-winning memoir, “From Fear To Faith: A Survivor’s Story” on Saturday, February 27 from 11am-2pm. Shepherd’s Fold Bookstore is located at 415 Cherry Road directly across the street from Winthrop University.

“From Fear To Faith: A Survivor’s Story,” winner of two International Book Award honors and one USA Book News honors, is a personal memoir about his journey through a frightful diagnosis which he hopes will inspire others to move from fearing the worst to taking charge of their lives and living them to the fullest. Talford, an Army veteran who retired from Microsoft at the age of 40, survived a very rare and deadly form of cancer. The book chronicles the author’s life from his early years as one of six children born to teenaged parents in Long Island, NY, through his 2010-2011 physical challenges, and ultimate triumph over “The Scourge” as he refers to it.

In “From Fear to Faith: A Survivor’s Story,” Talford takes you through his early thoughts and fears regarding “the c-word” (as he calls it), then illustrates how he used skills learned and practiced daily throughout a 16-year IT career to carefully craft a plan that he felt helped him to focus, and look at his diagnosis as “just another complex computer issue” that needed to be resolved quickly and completely. Though technically a memoir, “From Fear to Faith: A Survivor’s Story” separates itself from most others in that the author took what he calls a “calculated risk,” veering away from the normal memoir style and choosing to craft his story as a saga.

Matt D. Talford, is a speaker, avid tennis player and food enthusiast, and served as a medic in the United States Army and Army Reserves both during and after Operation Desert Storm. After four years working as an ER technician by day and attending college at night, he spent the next 16 years working in the field of Information Technology, while moonlighting as a contributing writer and editor for a Charlotte, NC-based Arts and Entertainment publication. His debut title, “From Fear to Faith: A Survivor’s Story,” which won several literary awards, hit #18 on Amazon Kindle’s Hot 100 list in the first few days after its release. Talford has begun work on a second title (TBA), which he hopes to release later this year.

“From Fear to Faith: A Survivor’s Story” is currently available at Amazon in both paperback and Kindle formats, and on Apple iBooks. A limited number of autographed copies are also available directly from the author’s website:
